The Future of the
Business School Program
The ‘Future of the Business School’ program provides leadership development for early career faculty as they move into their first substantial business school management role.
In many cases this will be a first step on the road to a career in business school leadership.
Our intention is to provide a significant leadership development event in itself, enabling participants to reflect on their experience to date, and to learn the lessons from senior colleagues who have first-hand knowledge of undertaking and developing such ideas.
Participants will work to identify current and future alternatives for their new roles, their schools, and for their community of scholarship.
The program has an action-learning ethos, and will address business school strategy, staff and student recruitment and selection, internationalization, and equality and diversity.
Further content will reflect faculty expertise and participant requirements.
University of Naples Federico II
The program is intended for those moving into substantive business school leadership roles.
This may include course/program leadership, discipline group leadership, and/or functional leadership across a school, including responsibilities for pedagogy and teaching and learning, validation, and research management.
We would anticipate the majority of participants will be academic teaching and research staff.
However, we would also hope that some colleagues in the administrative/professional support track moving into more senior roles would find value in attending.
Topics covered will include:
- Business School strategy – within, outside, and beyond the university
- intra-school organizational processes, curricula and research priorities
- national and international contexts of business schools
- transnational actors – AACSB/EQUIS/AMBA, scholarly associations, publishers and ranking agencies
Both participants and their sponsors are expected to benefit from the program.
Participants may self-nominate or be ‘spotted’ as beneficiaries by line managers/mentors informally, or through staff development processes.

How to apply
Applicants are invited to submit a single PDF file consisting of:
- CV;
- A motivation letter explaining the reasons behind the application;
Seats are limited to 30 selected submissions. All materials should be sent as a single PDF file by 25th March 2019. An email receipt of the letter will be sent to acknowledge submissions.
Applicants will be charged a fee of 2,500 Euros, excluding travel, meals and accommodation. University of Naples Federico II will contribute by covering extra costs and providing free of charge the school location and all facilities.
